Zayn Malik continues his scorched earth approach to post-1D interviews, making sure everyone knows HE’S AN ARTIST and all that fame and money and adoration was just BEYOND tiresome. A burden really. Wah wah wah. He tells Zane Lowe:
“I think I always wanted to go, from, like, the first year. I never really wanted to be there, like, in the band, like I just gave it a go because it was there at the time. And when I realized the direction that we were going in (mind the pun) with the music, I instantly realized it wasn’t for me, because i realized i couldn’t put any input in, I couldn’t give my opinion on this or that because it didn’t fit the grain of what we were as a band, what we represented. So that’s when it became frustrating for me.”
It’s really a must-listen interview, as surely we’ve all heard him speak before, in snippets and little sound bytes here and there, but never in such a prolonged manner… and who knew his accent was THAT THICK? Holy cow. You will have a visceral reaction to it, I guarantee. Either loathe it or love it, depending where you stand on unintelligible mutterings from hot guys. Personally, I think it might be a bit of an obstacle when it comes to US domination. But that didn’t stop Sophia Vergara, so anything is possible.
