Deadline is reporting that Zac Efron will voice the ever-yummy Fred Jones and Amanda Seyfried will play the groovy redhead Daphne Blake, in Warner Bros Animation Group’s Scooby-Doo feature film called Scoob. Also in the cast: Will Forte, who will play Shaggy Rogers, Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley, Tracy Morgan will play Captain Caveman (?!?), and Frank Welker who is reprising the voice of stoner canine Scooby, having been the voice-over for the hound in the 1969-1970 series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
No Matthew Lillard, though, which seems unfortunate.
And, I don’t know, Zac and Amanda would make a kick-ass live action Fred and Daphne (he even has the blond hair now!) – I don’t know why they’re making it a cartoon.
It’s the first time since Warners’ 2004 live-action take on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, that the Mystery Inc gang have hit the big screen. In the new Scooby-Doo movie they team up with other characters in the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from the evil Dick Dastardly.
What do you think? Can a Scooby Doo movie make it in 2019? Will you watch it?
