The US Olympic uniforms designed by Ralph Lauren for the opening ceremony were unveiled today, and I don’t know, I think they’re tacky. From HuffPo: “Men will wear navy blue blazers with the Olympic team patch, along with a red and navy tie, and cream-colored flat-front pants. Women will pair the blazers with scarves with red, white and blue stripes, and a knee-length cream-colored skirt. All the team members will top off their uniforms with navy berets highlighted with red and white stripes.” I think that ginormous Polo logo is vulgar and feels self-serving on Lauren’s part, and the berets are just silly and pretentious. And I’m pretty sure there will be copies of these on sale at every Macy’s at every mall in the country, and five years from now in the dollar bin at every thrift store in the country. Or maybe I’m just feeling cranky. On the bright side: The model is hot.
