Jack Williams’ Forest installation uses 350 Royal Pine car fresheners to create a floating woods. “My current practice explores the constructed cultural identity of objects and text and their ‘usefulness’ as a document,” says Williams in an artist statement. “I attempt to subvert or recontextualize these meanings by ‘robbing’ the objects out of their original context to place them in situations that disturb or shift their ‘naturalness.’” Well, that takes all the fun out of it.
