Lance Bass was just on Watch What Happens Live with Crissy Metz and told Andy Cohen, that he came out to Britney Spears on the night of her first wedding.
Cohen brought up Spears,
“I remember you telling me Britney Spears was one of the first people you came out to.”
Bass tell Cohen yes and ask what her reaction was,
“It was the night she got married the first time, in Vegas…”
Spears first got married in 2004 to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander but it was annulled just 55 hours later. (I remember it well. At the time I was the art director at Us Weekly. Her wedding annulment was a huge deal!)
A court petition stated Spears
“lacked understanding of her actions.”
Bass says he went to Vegas to
“see the craziness that was happening.”
He said Spears did understand what occurred, because she was very ‘upset’,
“She started really crying, she was so upset. So I took her to her room and we sat on the bed. She wouldn’t stop crying so I was like, ‘I’m gay.’
And it made her stop crying..”
Bass then says Spears chucked and was very supportive of his coming out to her.
