San Francisco queers Double Duchess (Krylon Superstar and davO) just sent me their amaaazing new video Good Girl Freak Out, directed by indie film genius JB Ghuman Jr. (Spork), and featuring Kelly Osbourne! These queens have been turning out club hits all year long, including their ballroom/voguing-inspired Nocturnal EP, released last summer. Visually, this is their best effort to date. Ghuman depicts a couple caught in the dance of hooking up, breaking apart, and getting back together again. Kelly portrays a holographic purple character – inspired by Jem of Jem and the Holograms – that guides the conflicted couple to finding their truth. “I’m a filmmaker at heart but I love music that makes me move on the inside,” says Ghuman. “Once I heard Good Girl Freak Out, I felt it was my chance to dive into the strange dreams I had been having.” Double Duchess once again destroys homonormativity and delivers in-your-face imagery and music, celebrating inclusivity for all. Well done ladies!
