The actors starred in the 1992 goth horror film Dracula, where their characters, Mina and Jonathan Harker, get married in Romania. But, according to Ryder, the wedding ceremony may have actually been legit.
“We actually got married in ‘Dracula,’ No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life.
In that scene, [director Francis Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
Reeves, responding to the idea, asked Ryder if they both said yes during the ceremony? He then accepted his possible fate and said,
“Oh my gosh, we’re married.”
Whether Reeves and Ryder are actually bound by Romanian vows is a mystery, but regardless, it’s a pretty good PR stunt for a movie called Destination Wedding. It’s in theaters on August 31.
