The full trailer for Spencer expands on the teaser released before the film’s rapturous reception at the Venice and Toronto film fests. Kristen Stewart leaves nothing on the table in portraying the last days of Princess Diana‘s marriage.
Via Vanity Fair:
In various scenes throughout the trailer, Diana can be seen warring with herself over which version of herself to embrace. “You have to be able to do things you hate,” Jack Farthing’s Prince Charles coldly advises. “There has to be two of you. There’s the real one and the one they take pictures of.” Meanwhile, Sally Hawkins takes a different approach with Diana: “Fight them. You are your own weapon,” she tells her. Hawkins and Farthing co-star alongside Timothy Spall, and Sean Harris as undisclosed characters. Directed by Pablo Larraín (who also helmed Natalie Portman’s Jackie to life), the film is written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. The trailer ends on a decidedly ominous note, with Stewart’s Diana wondering: “Will they kill me, do you think?”
