The YMCA has just dropped the MCA portion of its corporate name and wants to be known from now on as simply “the Y,” throwing a wet towel on that great party song by the Village People. “It’s a way of being warmer, more genuine, more welcoming, when you call yourself what everyone else calls you,” says the Y’s senior vice president, who is not an M, incidentally, but is likely a C.
