The only good thing that can be said for the Carl’s Jr oozing, dripping, chewing-with-their-mouths-open TV ads is that they’ve been condemned by televangelist Rev Robert Schuller. The newest one, which will debut tomorrow during Entertainment Tonight, will feature Paris Hilton in a bathing suit of sorts eating the Spicy BBQ Six Dollar Burger while taking a wash rag to a Bentley, while a rock cover of “I Love Paris in the Springtime” plays. All in 30 seconds. A nastier, minutelong version will be available on the restaurant’s website.
The two chains [Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s] tout huge, dripping burgers at a time when other fast-food restaurants are offering more healthy alternatives. Andrew Puzder, president and chief executive of CKE Restaurants Inc, said, “She’s very appealing to our demographic,” which he described as young, hungry guys. “And it turns out she really loved the burger we wanted her to promote,” Puzder said. “We did see her eat a couple of them at the shoot.”
If Hilton ate two of the burgers during the shoot, we’re thinking the shoot must have lasted three weeks with no craft service.
