The Paris Hilton of Britain, George Michael, will not be going to jail for his many drug-and-alcohol-related driving violations either. The former Wham! singer (who recently squelched rumors he slept with his singing partner Andrew Ridgely) posed flamboyantly outside the London magistrate’s court today after the judge ordered him to pay $4,622, serve 100 hours of community service, and stay off the road for two years. Although he smiled, spun, and flounced for the photographers, he had only this to say in a prepared statement:

Don’t bother to ask any questions, because believe me I am not going to answer them. I would simply ask you to understand that the media coverage of this case has been farcical, concentrating almost entirely on the prosecution’s allegations. In reality I have been sentenced today on the basis of unfit driving through tiredness and prescription medicines, which I fully accept responsibility for. I am glad to put this behind me and now I’m off to do the biggest show of my life.

That would be Saturday’s and Sunday’s performances at the new Wembley Stadium. (Source)
