World of Wonder is proud to congratulate one of our associate producers, Ashley York, for winning the prestigious A&E IndieFilms Documentary Finishing Grant, which is awarded for the production of a documentary that tells a unique story by a filmmaker of distinctive vision – which she is. The award comes with the delightful sum of $50,000, provided by A&E IndieFilms & Heineken®. York’s documentary, Ah-Satan, three years of work so far, is an intimate feature-length film exploring the lives of six Kentuckians who were sentenced to life in prison when they were teens. “While illustrating the story about the means by which these individuals were incarcerated,” says York, she covers the overwhelmed justice system, the imprisonment of America’s poorest citizens, and the prison industrial complex.” We can’t wait till it’s finished.
