World of Wonder is proud to announce the return of For the Love Of…, an entirely different kind of talk show hosted by best selling author Jon Ronson (Them, The Psychopath Test). For the Love of… was originally broadcast in 1994 on Britain’s Channel Four, quickly garnering a rabidly cult audience. “Why is For the Love of… so unique? Because it’s the Anti-Talk show!” said World of Wonder co-founder Fenton Bailey. “Unfamous guests encouraged to talk endlessly about a single topic they are obsessed about!” The episodic topics are extreme: Moon-Landing conspiracy theories, the death of Princess Diana, the existence of the Loch Ness Monster, unidentified flying objects, near-death experiences, Scientology. These evergreen subjects of controversy and endless conversation are explored in depth by Jon and his non-celebrity guests who don’t waste your time selling their latest book, perfume, or movie. They are passionate enthusiasts and experts on the topics in question. The result are some of the most original freewheeling, insightful, and delightful conversations ever witnessed on television. “It’s the talk show to watch when you’re not watching a talk show!” added partner Randy Barbato. Host and best-selling author Jon Ronson reminisces on the experience: “This started because years ago a commissioning editor at Channel 4 TV in the UK – Peter Grimsdale – was on a train. Next to him were four people all going to a grouse shoot. He secretly listened in on their conversation. They were all massive grouse-shooting enthusiasts and, in the absence of any anti-grouse shooters, they were letting their hair down and speaking openly. This gave him the idea to do a chat show without conflict. Of course there would be lots of little conflicts – as people who share the same passion always have. But that was the idea. He asked me and World of Wonder to make it. We did 29 of them. I loved them. Then they got cancelled. Now there’s nothing on TV like this.” Until now.
