The supreme being (I’M OBSESSED!!!) responsible for soundtracking my isolation lifestyle, Arca, is about to release his next full-length, self-titled album (April 7). The London-based phenom has produced tracks for Björk, and several songs off Kanye West’s Yeezus album. This will be the third album for the Venezuela-born artist, but the first time we will actually hear him singing. Check out the arresting Anoche (last night) video below, directed by visual genius, and Arca BFF Jesse Kanda, where Arca lays hands on what appears to be be strewn, dead bodies, with specific lacerations…perhaps a sacrament for those accused of being sinners?…a healing/blessing for the disenfranchised?
Arca:
“Here’s my voice and all my guts: feel free to judge it. It’s like a bullfight: you’re watching emotional violence for pleasure. So this is a character who, almost as a mockery of the transaction, goes uncomfortably deep, into self-mutilation. ‘You want gore? Here’s gore’”
