Michael Musto said that Fiorucci, the trendy Manhattan boutique near Bloomingdale’s during the ’70s and ’80s, was “disco dazzle combined with new wave posturing.” On Valentine’s Day 1986, fans postured while Andy Warhol dazzled in the store, autographing his latest book of photography, America. All during the signing, Warhol took snapshots, and those prints later sold for $26,000 each. Nightlife chronicler Nelson Sullivan videotaped the event over Warhol’s shoulder. Watch for Tina Chow, Mr. Chow, Benjamin Liu, Joey Arias, Billyboy, Stephen Sprouse, Eric Conrad, James St James, Phoebe Legere, and possibly you. The video plays continuously in World of Wonder’s Storefront Gallery during the “Wathol Dead at 21” group show, which ends February 22.
