Adam began to suffer with some mental health issues and even felt suicidal and he credits drag shows with bringing joy back into his life.
He said that on any given night there are literally more drag shows in NYC than Broadways shows, but how do you find them? He couldn’t find any central website to tell him what was on and when.
The name of the site came from a Drag Race/ DragCon staple, “Meet the Queens” . He thought,
I met the Queens –I want to SEE THE QUEENS!”
And to his surprise in 2022 SEETHEQUEENS.com was still available!! And as they say, the rest is HerStory.
You can search by type of Drag you want to see Comedy Queen, Dancing Diva or even Drag King, look for Drag Brunches, local events are even Queens sign up and list shows and viola.
Just go to the bank, stock up on singles, get your best Judy and you are ready to go!
At Vers in Hell’s Kitchen, the launch party for STQ was MC’d by Bravo & E!‘s Donald Adler, with drag hosts Kimmi Moore, Yasmin Delano and Chicky Gorgina and featured reality TV show mixes by 10 local guest stars! Signature drinks were the Screaming Queen and the Kinky King.
The event was all about celebrating local drag artists, the queens, kings & things that make NYC great! Guests came together to support queer, trans and POC artists!
The website is in BETA right now and just in NYC, but I cannot imagine that this idea doesn’t spread across the country and eventually the globe!
