Bohem C’est La Vie aka Vivi, the champion whippet who escaped her cage at JFK airport shortly after the Westminster Dog Show in the middle of freezing February, is still at large. And the search is still on. If she were a human child, she would be presumed dead and rescue teams would become recovery teams and the parents would be tacking fewer and fewer fliers to trees and fences. But Vivi’s a dog and dog people don’t give up. This woman, Denise Flaim, a Newsday writer who covers companion animals – not pets – in her “Animal House” column, has a website devoted entirely to the finding of Vivi. Go there, get a big mug of coffee, smoke ’em if you got ’em, scroll all the way down to the bottom, and spend an hour reading the search saga as it has unfolded. We didn’t put this much effort into our quest to find Judith Light last year. By the way, has anyone seen her lately? We still care.
