The most infamous diva, Mariah Carey, is currently producing a scripted series based on her upbringing for the Starz Network. Not only does this have potential for extreme amounts of insight (and drama) into the famed singer’s life but it sounds like it could be great!
Executive producing alongside Carey is her longtime friend, Brett Ratner. The show will be written by Nina Coleman (Mahogany) and is described as:
“an ambitious bi-racial 16 year old girl, an aspiring singer-songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time,” according to Deadline.
We can’t imagine the potential for this show and makes us wonder if maybe Cher and Barbara Streisand need their own dramatic series? I’m also left wondering if it will highlight or flash forward to our favorite Mimi moments, like her MTV Cribs episode or the even better “I don’t know her” incident.
There’s no set date as of yet or word on who will be playing a young Mariah. Either way, count us in and hopefully we’ll learn more about this series as it develops.
