Ansel Elgort, son of legendary fashion photographer Arthur Elgort, and star of the Off-Broadway play Regrets (with Alexis Bledel) as well as the upcoming Carrie remake (with Chloe Moretz), is seen here hoofing it with model-of-the-minute Cara Delevigne. Of his upbringing, Ansel tells Vogue his dad often took him along to shoots: “My dad would throw me in the picture if they needed an extra. From an early age, I understood the concept that, if you’re not the star, then your job is to not pull attention away from the star. Picture-taking is an ensemble art — like theater.” When he would pose next to Caroline Trentini or Karolina Kurkova, he recalled, “I knew the kid sitting next to the model wasn’t important — and I was okay with that.” Even at six, Ansel didn’t want to be a model: “I wanted to be an actor, a singer, or a dancer. My dad told me that if I became a well-known actor, people would want to take my picture for magazines anyway.” And it looks like he was right.
