The fabulous Beekman boys will be at the Williams-Sonoma in Beverly Hills tomorrow signing copies of their new book, Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook, at 1PM and on Sunday at 2PM at the Santa Monica Public Library (“third stall from the left” – Josh). I had a quickie phone chat with Josh today to get updated on all their comings and goings.
ME: So tell me about the new cookbook.
JOSH: It’s Brent and my family’s vintage recipes… with a Beekman twist!
ME: What’s the Beekman twist?
JOSH: Farm fresh ingrediants, of course!
ME: Is Polka Spot in the book?
JOSH: There might be a picture…
ME: Is she mad she wasn’t on the cover?
JOSH: She eats more fusion. She’s not a down home cooking kind of girl.
ME: So recently you waved the flag at NASCAR…
JOSH: We rang the opening bell at NASDAQ.
ME: Oh. Well. That’s a slightly different thing, isn’t it?
JOSH: Yes, but it was quite an honor. We were right there in Times Square, with our faces up on the JumboTron. And to think, I used to hang out with hookers there.
ME: Right? You and me gurl. Tell me about being on QVC! Did you get any free Diamoniques®?
JOSH: No Diamoniques®, but it was pretty cool. It was September 30th. We were on for seven minutes and sold 2,000 books. We pitched our little hearts out.
ME: Wow. That’s pretty spectacular. 2,000 books in seven minutes. I’m jealous. Now: Tell me about the Harvest Festival this year. Wait. First tell me what the Harvest Festival IS.
JOSH: It’s an annual party that we dreamed up three years ago to attract people to the town. There wasn’t anything happening, and the drag queen in me said “Let’s have a party!” The first year we had 500 people. The second year, 5,000 showed up. And this year we had 8,000.
ME: Congratulations. Well, listen, have fun at the signings. See you soon, girl!
