I didn’t watch the Republican debate last night (I had a coloring party instead. See next post…) but I imagine it was the usual train wreck. Sometimes instead of watching it on TV, I just follow Twitter to watch it blow up. Our girl Cher speaks her mind and she regularly expresses outrage and fear on Twitter at the increasingly extremist nature of the GOP. Openly racist politicians like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are at the top of the polls, which makes it even MORE terrifying to Democrats as 2016 approaches. In typically abbreviated Twitter fashion to fit within the 140 character limit, Cher tweeted;
“As Judas Was 2 Jesus, So Is Ted Cruz 2America. Read What He’s Written&Watched What He’s Said,4 Yrs. He ALWAYS TERRIFIED ME.”
This prompted supporters of Cruz to respond with sexist slurs and actual death threats –a violation of Twitter’s terms of service – but Cruz himself, (more likely whoever is running his account) had a completely “Der” response.
“Cher, thanks for the kind sentiments…”
Ted Cruz retweeted Cher’s condemnation, wishing her a Merry Christmas. Did his social media (mis)handler mistake words like “he always terrified me” for some kind of pat on the back, or do you think that was an attempt at sarcasm? Duh? Meanwhile, supporters of Ted Cruz have continued to verbally assault and threaten Cher.
WARNING: DO. NOT. REPEAT. GOP trolls, do NOT go after Cher, or the queens will COME FOR YOU. Trust.
