YouTubers Twinsthenewtrend (aka Tim and Fred Williams) do fun reaction videos from their home in Gary, Indiana. Watch their awe when hearing “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins for the first time.
They are not alone in finding the song totally awesome. The 1981 hit was made even more famous when it was used in the pilot of Miami Vice. That scene in that episode changed the course of American media’s aesthetic.
The success of the Miami Vice scene led to the song also being used in a famous 1987 ad for Michelob that changed the rules about “selling out” and licensing songs for products and services. They even got Eric Clapton and Frank Sinatra to sign on.
In other words, the kick-ass nature of the song now spans generations.
