A Russian plastic surgeon called Emelian Braude has coined the term ‘devil lips’, or ‘octopus lips’ to describe a procedure which is said to “involve inserting filler in the outer lip to create a wave effect across both the lips.” Once the skin and equipment are prepared, the doctor administers the injections at the planned sites. The sites are determined based on where veins and muscles are and where the lines are that you want to be treated. The injections for lips are not very painful, but they may sting a bit and the area may burn. It shouldn’t feel any different than donating blood.
The trend has taken off on Instagram where you can find multiple examples of the pointy lips, with most people comparing them to blisters or “an exotic form of herpes,” while others call it “oddly aesthetically pleasing.”
“You cannot change the anatomical shape of the lips like this,” she explains. “You can sharpen and contour by enhancing the vermillion border, but these ‘devil lips’ are unnatural.” She continues on to explain the damage you could cause if you tried to create this with fillers. “Filler injected inappropriately could end up in a blood vessel, causing blockages and leading to necrosis (death) of the tissue. The vessels are around the lips, so using filler inappropriately is what can cause this.”
So, for now, it seems this is a digital trend only, but I still think I’d like to try a Transformation episode and get a facial feminization , achieving the look with makeup… What do you think: Pointy lips…. Toot them or boot them?
