“I grew up with my deaf mother, without any obvious relationship to expression by using language. I was surrounded by elderly women. I wanted to become like them. It made me into a certain gender with a specific sexuality, which made me feel really alone in the small town where I was born. I tried different ways to combine my desires to express myself and my need to live with others. I eventually turned from androgynous to hyper masculine, but I still kept a certain distance, sometimes an irony, without denying my need to show my true self, sexually included…which was new and sudden for me. I also kept a taste for transformations and infiltrations, in a matter of gender of course, but considering it on a larger scale than simply sexual. It gives me the feeling to live something magical, like a kind of funny fairy tale or myth. I keep trying to present myself in different ways, to see where it can go… and sometimes finding some surprising and contradictory truths in my looks.”
