Jaclyn Moore, showrunner on Netflix’s Dear White People, stopped by GMA on Spirit Day to discuss why she quit in the wake of Dave Chappelle‘s transphobic special The Closer. Spoilers: she doesn’t want Dave canceled.
Angelica Ross, Jameela Jamil, Mason Alexander Park and Kate Bornstein were among those who appeared in a video supporting the action. Elliot Page said: “I stand with the trans, nonbinary, and BIPOC employees at Netflix fighting for more and better trans stories and a more inclusive workplace.” Jonathan Van Ness said: “Sending you so much gratitude for the work that you continually do to create a world that is equitable and fair, and to ultimately achieve LGTBQ liberation.” AHS actor Colton Haynes said he’s grateful “not just for the work you’re doing today, but for the constant f***ing marathon that you’re having to run just to ensure that there’s a safe workplace, and safe content and safe speech.”
It’s probably completely unrelated (heh), but Netflix had quite a spike in service outages yesterday.
