The teaser-railer features stars Wiig and Annie Mumolo in character as Barb and Star, who, “after years of friendship and sharing a home together, embark on a wild adventure when they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time ever in pursuit of a sunny vacation, though they ultimately cross paths with an evil villain’s dangerous plot. “
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar also stars Jamie Dornan, Damon Wayans, Jr., Fortune Feistier, Rose Abdoo, Vanessa Bayer, Phyllis Smith, and Bridesmaids actress Wendi McLendon-Covey —
“It is such an honor that Kristen and Annie have entrusted us with their follow-up to Bridesmaids. Their projects offer a rare combination of big laughs, big heart, and female empowerment that everyone will love — men and women, young and old,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President Nathan Kahane previously said of the film ahead of its initially planned 2020 theatrical bow. “Barb and Star are true cultural icons in the making, and as they embark on this hilarious adventure, we are more than thrilled to partner with Kristen, Annie and Gloria Sanchez on what we know is going to be a great ride.”
Barb and Star will be available to rent for a premium price starting Feb. 12. It was originally scheduled to open in theaters on July 16, but the studio shifted release plans amid the pandemic.
