Be still my heart!
The Dear Evan Hansen star, who has Broadway audiences in ABSOLUTE PUDDLES every night, was spotted in a backstage pic with the Will & Grace cast, noting he will appear on the October 5 episode of the revival. No word yet on who the character will be (BOYFRIEND FOR WILL! BOYFRIEND FOR WILL!) but here’s hoping he’ll burst out in at least one song.

If you haven’t seen Evan Hansen yet, might I interest you in a quick sob via his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert? Seriously, you don’t even need to know the play’s backstory, just listen to the words and watch his face. You’ll be crying by the three minute mark, I swear.

It has also been confirmed that Harry Connick Jr. will return to reprise his role as Leo, Grace’s husband. Since it was teased that she was dating in the revival, and series co-creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan said they were going to ignore the series finale where Grace and Leo get remarried, it seems likely that Leo and Grace are no longer together in the revival.
Platt’s episode isn’t scheduled to air until October, but the show is already back in production with the first episode filming in front of a live studio audience this week. Paolo Presta, who memorably was given a walk-on role on Will & Grace by Oprah Winfrey, was in the audience for the first night of filming.
The revival has already been renewed for a second season, and the upcoming ninth season will now consist of 16 episodes, plenty of time to squeeze in even more guest stars.
