A shirtless and heavily tatted Tom Hardy talks to Esquire this month about his rumored feud with Charlize Theron. Wait. What? I hadn’t heard about this. Apparently “some blogger” stirred the pot by saying there was tension on the set of the upcoming Mad Max movie. Tom, the story goes, is very method and stays in character between scenes. He supposedly shut himself off from the cast and muttered to himself as he wandered around the set, which was off-putting I suppose.
“That’s disappointing [to hear],” says Tom, setting the record straight. “I think she is fucking awesome. I think she’s incredible. I think she’s one of the most talented actresses of our generation. But it’s very interesting, the concept of what danger is, and this has nothing to do with Charlize of Mad Max, actually, but this has to do with life in general.”
He also told the magazine that despite his brawny physique and menacing demeanor, he’s not at all macho in real life:
” I don’t feel very manly. I don’t feel rugged and strong and capable in real life, not how I imagine a man ought to be. So I seek it, to mimic it and maybe understand it, or maybe to draw it into my own reality. People who are scary, they terrify me, but I can imitate them. I’m not a fighter. I’m a petite little bourgeois boy from London. I don’t fight, I mimic.”
