At an NBC News Town Hall this morning, Donald Trump was asked questions submitted through social media. One of those was about North Carolina’s so-called “Bathroom Bill” which bars transgender people from bathrooms and locker rooms that do not match the gender on their birth certificate.
And here’s the scary part: The Donald ACTUALLY SOUNDED RATIONAL when discussing it, saying (quote, unquote) “the bill should not have been passed and neither should similar bills!”
Here’s his complete statement:
“I had a feeling that question was going to come up. North Carolina did something that was very strong, and they are paying a big price and there’s a lot of problems. One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying ‘leave it the way it is. There have been very few problems.’ North Carolina, what they are going through with all of the business that’s leaving and the strife– and that’s on both sides. You leave it the way it is. There have been very few complaints they way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate, there has been so little trouble, and the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment they’re taking.”
Asked Matt Lauer:
“So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you’d be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?”
“That is correct,” replied Trump.
Trump also said he disagrees with the creation of new, gender neutral bathrooms, saying it would be too expensive.
“I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way…Leave it the way it is.”
God, I hate to agree with him….
(and what a vile question from Matt Lauer!!!)
