An acrobatic dance troupe from England called Diversity, consisting of three sets of brothers, took the first prize yesterday in Britain’s Got Talent, the UK television competition, leaving Scottish nightingale duckling Susan Boyle in unexpected second place. Diversity, which Simon Cowell proclaimed was “sheer and utter perfection,” won $160,000 and a gig performing for Queen Elizabeth at the next annual Royal Variety Performance, but Boyle has already won 100 million hits on YouTube and a gig in the hearts of the world and has experienced the entire showbiz arc from obscurity to fame to backlash in mere weeks. Next month, while Boyle is recording her album of show tunes, no one will remember the winning circus act. (LAT)
