Before Ai, there was Alison Jackson.
Plenty of Ai memes and look-alike have been circulating prior to yesterday’s coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla but photographer Alison Jackson doesn’t take the easy route.
She sent lookalikes to the streets of London last week to launch her new exhibition The Crown, made up of pictures of fake royals.

Jackson, who joined her lookalike couple at one point in the carriage as part of the photoshoot, has spent nearly 25 years exploring (& exploiting) the theme of celebrity culture, creating realistic-looking photographs of apparent public figures in private situations all perfect casting, cleverly styled doubles.
The Crown runs through May 27 at the Grove Gallery in London. You can take a virtual tour of the exhibit here.
