Once Upon a Time in the West at the Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, 323 466-FILM) Sergio Leone’s vast, brilliantly poetic epic of the rape and conquest of the American West, with Charles Bronson, Henry Fonda, Claudia Cardinale, and Jason Robards. 8PM. $9. MUSIC
Broken Spindles at the Troubadour (9081 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood) Sparse beats, synthesizer ambience. Retro dance aesthetic reminiscent of acts like Front Line Assembly, Front 242, and Kraftwerk. Just the ticket for fans of ’80s dance revival (more). 8PM $10.

B-Side Players (with Jamal Crea) at Temple Bar (1026 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica, 310 393-6611) A blend of reggae, funk, Latin jazz, and rock. Played with Ben Harper and Papa Roach (more). 10:30PM. $10.

SATURDAY

MUSIC
The Catheters at Chain Reaction (1622 W. Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim, 714 635-6067) Raucous indie outfit. The kids know how to rock. 8PM. All ages, no alcohol. $8.

The Mint Chicks at Spaceland (1717 Silver Lake Boulevard, Los Angeles, 323 661-4380) New Zealand foursome caught the ear and eye of the White Stripes, who invited them to open their Australian tour (web & cool video). Call for showtime. $10.

OUTDOORS
Old Town Temecula Street Painting Festival (Front Street, Temecula) Professional and amateur artists cover the sidewalks with their chalk “paintings.” A first: WOW Report recommends good, clean family fun. 8AM – 3PM. Also Sunday. Free.

CELEBRATION
34th Annual LGBT Pride Festival at West Hollywood Park (San Vicente and Santa Monica Boulevards, Los Angeles) Noon – Midnight. $15 – $12 in advance. See Sunday. (more)

PERFORMANCE
The Wedding Journey: Vows in Midair at Wilshire Ebell Theatre (4401 W. 8th Street, Los Angeles, 323 939-1128) Dance and aerial reality theater combined with actual wedding ceremony – C. Derrick Jones and Nehara Kalec tie the knot while performing in midair. Legendary LA performance artist and ordained minister Rachel Rosenthal officiates. Chicks’ll dig it. 7PM. $20 – $45, cash only.

SUNDAY

CELEBRATION
34th Annual Los Angeles LGBT Pride Parade. Route follows Santa Monica Boulevard, starting at Crescent Heights Boulevard, and ends at West Hollywood Park on San Vincente and Santa Monica Boulevards at festival site (see map) with 24 live performances, DJ, dance pavilions, karaoke, carnival rides, games, and a children’s garden. 11AM – 11PM. Parade free.

MUSIC
Karate High School at Whisky a Go-Go (8901 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, 310 652-4202) Five-piece group from the Bay Area that plays Arcade Rock – one part alternative rock, two parts videogame soundtrack, three parts cartoonish, emotional melodies, and 1.21 gigawatts of pure adrenaline. Call for showtime and tickets.

Jerrie and Friends at El Cid (4212 W. Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, 323 668-0318) 87-year-old Big Band-era drummer Jerrie Thill entertains Sunday brunchers at this swinging Silver Lake eatery. A hoot. Late morning, early afternoon.
