As I Lay Dying, written by the notoriously difficult to adapt William Faulkner, is being brought to the screen by James Franco, who wrote the screen play, directed, and stars in the story of the death of Addie Bundren and her family’s quest to honor her wish to be buried in the nearby town of Jefferson. The book was written in six weeks, while Faulkner worked at a power plant, and he never changed or re-wrote one word of it. Can you imagine? I can’t do that for a 30-word blog post. It’s narrated by 15 different characters over 59 chapters in a dense, hallucinatory, stream-of-consciousness style, so it will be interesting, to say the least, how James managed to get a linear story out of it. Of particular interest in this trailer, is Logan Marshall-Green who plays Jewel, James’ hunky brother.
