CozmoTV let’s you tag TV shows, find new ones, and add them to your TiVo’s to-do list. Coming soon, it will allow you to publish your TiVo’s now-playing list and share it with friends. Allowing for a Friendster (well, now we have to say MySpace) experience. Sort of. Netflix did a similar thing not that long ago by allowing you to see your friends’ queue and movie ratings.
I’ve always thought that social networking sites were missing something and, as it turns out, they were missing content to share. Now if you could take Netflix, CosmoTV, and a few others and tie them together with Friendster (or MySpace) so we don’t have to add our friends to every site, that would be something. Where’s that API?
It reminds me of something we’ve been talking about a lot around here, that media is a social experience. While people sometimes watch TV and movies alone, they enjoy them more when they watch them with friends, discuss them the next day at the water cooler, etc.
Thanks to Steve Rubel for pointing me towards CosmoTV.
