First of all, they are ALL seven as cute as can be. Mom and Dad are savvy interiors designers with great TVQ, their own HGTV show and line of home furnishings with CB2. Secondly, style for days, come on. And lastly, the best kid’s names south of North West and Apple. Here’s how they got them:
Wolfgang Frances Novogratz, age 14 (far right)
Nicknamed Wolfie, the eldest Novogratz’s name was inspired by his Austrian heritage. Not only do Cortney and Robert love Mozart’s music, they love his name — and the fact that the composer’s village is near the hometown of grandfather Novogratz.
Bellamy Nicole Novogratz, age 12 (in front of Bob)
Although Tallulah was technically the Novogratz’s first choice for a daughter’s name (having already been on the table if Wolfie had been a girl), when first fraternal twin Bellamy was born, “she just looked more like a Bellamy,” said Cortney.
Tallulah Louise Novogratz, age 12 (right of Bob)
Seventeen minutes after Bellamy was born came Tallulah Louise. While the name is a small homage to famous southern actress Tallulah Bankhead, it was first inspired by Tallulah Falls, a beautiful creek and waterfall in the Novogratz’s home state of Georgia—and one of Cortney’s favorite places growing up.
Breaker Owsley Novogratz, age 10 (far left)
The Novogratz’s fourth child is named after the Australian film Breaker Morant. “The character is a real renaissance guy, a poet who would break the wild horses,” said Cortney. “It’s an intense movie. Robert and I had seen it together when we were dating.”
Five Beck Novogratz, age 6 (in front)
“The number five came about as a name because Robert would always say, ‘Let’s go for number five!’ and have the kids chant it,” said Cortney. “When I got pregnant, we started calling it Five, and then when it turned out I was having twins again, we started saying, ‘Five has a friend!’”
Holleder Street Novogratz, age 6 (Cortney’s hand on him)
Five’s fraternal twin, nicknamed Hollie, is named after Don Holleder, a friend and classmate of Robert’s father at West Point who was killed in action in Vietnam. “Hollie’s a little shyer than Five,” said Cortney. “We thought about naming him Chet, after Chet Baker, but he looked like a Holleder. Everybody’s name is perfect for them.”
Major Robert Novogratz, age 2 (in Cortney’s arms)
Born on President Barack Obama’s inauguration day, Major could have been named Liberty Grace — if he had been a girl. Instead, the son is named after Robert’s father (also Robert), who was a major in the military. “Everyone who knew him called him Major Robert,” said Cortney. (via iVillage)
