Trend reports are touting that man-braids are taking the place of the 2015 man-bun craze. Is the assumption that men in braids is new? Well, GQ isn’t having it. They say,
“We’re going to go out on a limb here (albeit a very sturdy one) and let you know that this ‘trend’ cannot and will not ever truly take the place of our most beloved novelty male hairdo. The man bun will be back, next spring and summer, to delicately reflect the sun’s rays in real life and on social media.”
OK, but some trendsetting celebs have been into it man-braids for a while now. Director Cary Fukunaga got the Internet stirred up when he accepted his Emmy last year with two luscious braids and Jared Leto did the same thing at last year’s Golden Globes. We remember Harry Styles sexy tresses, but this style been popular with men of color for ages. So, wearing braids isn’t really NEW, but if the hashtag #manbraids, is any indication it’s taking off with men of all colors, shapes and sizes in a bigger way. If you want to get the look yourself, just search manbraid on YouTube and there are TONS of tutorials and as many different ways to braid your locks. Do you think man-braids are HOT or NOT? Not so sure that Will Forte‘s new look will catch on in a #manbraid way. Last week he sported a bushy bear and long hair on one side and shaved on the other. Will was vague as to why but he told New York magazine that his entire body was half-shaved. OK. We’ll have to wait and see, I guess. Or not.
