Yep, it’s happening. The L Word is about to make its official comeback on Showtime. The revival of the series will feature eight episodes and premiere before the end of this year.
Actresses Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey will executive produce and reprise their roles of Bette, Shane, Alice, respectively.
Beals retweeted an article by Deadline, confirming the rumors,
“Here we go. Rock steady.”
Other characters from the original may also appear, but production is being mum about the full cast. Showtime said fan-favorites will appear
“alongside a new generation of self-possessed LGBTI characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks, and success in LA.“
Showtime CEO David Nevins told Deadline,
“The original L Word premiered in 2004, which was a particular moment in time for the lesbian subculture in Los Angeles, and mostly featured women in their 20s and 30s.” The sequel “is going to be largely the same age and subculture but things have changed much in the past 15 years.“
The original cast talks below about what The L Word was 15 years ago.
