This is the real primetime drama – Colin Egglesfield and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz seeking succor on the set of Melrose Place. Now co-producer Todd Slavkin is saying the plan was always for Simpson-Wentz and Egglesfield to be let go. “We always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12,” he tells EW. “And we always knew that the character of Violet would be instrumental in that as a suspect, and Augie as well. And once that murder mystery was solved, she would go on her way. That was the original plan going into the development of the show,” that the show would “shift into a much more fun, romantic, sexy upbeat kind of show.” (via Celebslam; Pacific Coast News photo)
