The latest Vanity Fair is The Hollywood Issue… the 29th.
Full disclosure, I designed the very first Hollywood Issue back in ’95 (Yikes! Cover girl Selena Gomez was 3!) At the time it was a special issue that I was brought in to work on as everyone else in the art department was working on the regular issue. I was originally on staff at the magazine from ’83 to ’85 with editors Leo Lerman and Tina Brown.
Graydon Carter edited the magazine for 25 years and created what became a Hollywood powerhouse, Academy Award predictor, as well as the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, THE hot ticket party of the year. (He currently edits Airmail which I think is much like the old Vanity Fair.)

The new, new Vanity Fair is top edited by Radhika Jones who has changed the dynamic and the look, making an effort to make it more diverse (and younger.) She introduces the current issue, saying,
The spectacular actors on the cover of this magazine are only in their 20s and 30s, but it feels inadequate to call them rising stars: They’ve already staked out their rightful places in the firmament. None of them, however, had yet appeared on our annual Hollywood cover.
That obviously had to change, as quickly as possible. We are pleased to present, under the banner of the Hollywood Issue 2023, a new power generation —12 leading lights of stage and screen who we know will impress, enrapture, and entertain us for decades to come.

I guess we’ll see in 29 years if these are the stars of tomorrow…?
