httpv://youtu.be/bliU6xQx_ns I had a GREAT time last night at the birthday celebration for legendary New York City party promoter Chip Duckett. One of the really great things about Chip (of which there are many) is that not only has he seen it all, he’s had a front row seat! And when I say “legendary” I’m not using the term loosely. I dug up this incredible Nelson Sullivan video from the early ’80s of Chip introducing RuPaul to an appreciative audience at the club Mars. Oh, the tales Chip could tell. Yet, amazingly, despite years of riding atop the often-jaded freakshow that is the city, Chip has somehow managed to remain true to who he is – a kind fun-loving soul. And that’s probably one of the reasons why he is so good at what he does.
Last night’s soiree was a fabulously funky downtown party and it really was nice to see Chip just enjoying himself and having fun. Also at the party: Chip Duckett, Fred Schneider of the B-52’s, Joe Jervis of the JoeMyGod Blog, JMG staff photographer Dr Jeff, fellow birthday boys Adam Abernathy and Mike Dreyden, Bianca Leigh of Busted: The Musical, Robin Byrd, handsome actor Brandon Ruckdashel, Broadway blogger Adam Rothenberg of CallMeAdam, sexy executive Marc Leonard of Logo, and too many other fun fabulous folks to mention. Happy birthday, Chip! And thanks for so many great nights. (Drag your mouse over the photos to display names. (Photos by AGuyNamedWayne)
