Six Feet Under is my favorite show ever. . . I first approached SFU’s then Art Director now Production Designer, Suzuki Ingerslev, about 2 years ago after I saw a show that hinted that Claire was considering art school and I got goosebumps at the thought that my work could be hers. After she and Allan Ball and the writers and producers liked my work, I kept in touch as they didn’t know for sure where her work would go. Cut to me, shaking hands with my first actor to shoot from the show, Peter Krause, as I uncontrollably blushed and giggled like a 13 year old girl!
In fact, Russell had nothing at all to do with the concept of Claire’s photographs on Six Feet Under. David Meanix is the guy who conceived and creates the startling photographs that the undertaker’s daughter is getting acclaim for on the HBO series that just aired its last episode of the season. On his website, davidmeanix.com, amid an even more startling collection of his photosculptures, the artist tells how he got involved with the production and talks details of shooting the cast.
