Totally butch tween sensation Justin Bieber revealed to the New York Times that he employs a “swagger coach.” Ryan Goode, a former assistant to Usher, now works on “sharpening (Justin’s) moves, his attitude and his wardrobe,” and helps the singer “affect a street-wise jauntiness.” Mr. Good explained his role: “Usher thought I would be a good influence on him — kind of cool, you know, positive.” He selects Justin’s wardrobe, including tween-friendly turquoise hoodies and baseball caps.
“Lots of artists go through ‘refinement boot camp,’ ” Mr. Good said. “Justin’s a sponge, a bright kid. But he’s still just 15.” And like most 15-year-olds, he occasionally rebels. Recently, the brazen brat chose to wear headgear OF HIS OWN CHOOSING (a plaid hunter’s hat! Flaps down! GASP!) instead of his assigned baseball cap. “Mr. Good rolled his eyes,” reports the Times, “‘He’s peacocking,’ the swagger coach muttered.” Or just finding his own swagger? Maybe someday soon, the teenage boy won’t need to pay somebody to make him cool. On second thought, that’s never gonna happen. Keep the coach, kid. You’re a dork. (via Celebuzz)
