“All the queens here represent the American spirit of being an entrepreneur and following your dream –no matter what anyone else has to say about it.”
Can I get an Amen!?
Trixie Mattel, All Stars Season 3 winner performed an acoustic version of Mama Don’t Make Me Put on the Dress but Katya skipped drag and showed up as Brian McCook hosting a raw upfront panel titled DEB Talks, sharing about his recent trip to rehab. (But he was still funny, the girl can’t help it…)
Comic and actor, Billy Eichner teamed up with Alaska and Peppermint for another inspiring panel to promote Glam Up the Midterms, launched by Eichner and Funny or Die to call attention to the importance of voting, specifically this November.
The expanded floor was CRAMMED with vendors including World of Wonder’s new subscription box, a quarterly service with a curated collection of oddities like Sasha Velour playing cards and Michelle Visage’s book The Diva Rules, including in the first box. (If you weren’t at DragCon, you can sign up for the subscription here.)
There was SO much more but to sum it all up, Mama Ru opened his keynote speech by leading the crowd in a Miss Vanjie chant. Ru got her to join him on stage, asking her about her experience becoming the biggest meme in Drag Race herstory.
“Bitch, I was gagged.“
She DOES have a way with words –THAT could be the slogan for all the RuPaul’s DragCon‘s of the future.
