Of course, it’s well known that the gays already like art, but if they didn’t, well, this guy’s work would be right up their, er, collective alley. That’s a piece of artist Jeffrey Teuton’s stuff on the wall behind him. You can see more of 24-year-old Teuton (and his art) when his first solo show opens at the Jen Bekman Gallery at Spring and Bowery in Manhattan next Thursday. Twenty of his paintings (“a fusion of pop culture, architecture, icons, fame, power, money, sex, and consumer culture,” says his gallery) were bought by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. After looking at his paintings, we’re guessing he’s a fan of Jean-Michel Basquiat, but he claims that if his work were a celebrity, it would be Courtney Love.
