Bette Midler‘s Mud Will Be Flung Tonight came out in ’85 and I’ve listened to it 100 times. If you can find it on CD, get it. It’s been out of print since CDs. It’s truly laugh-out-loud. Carson LOVED Bette. (You remember, she sang to him on his farewell show.) Composer Marc Shaiman, wrote Fat As I Am with the Divine Miss M and here, she sings it to Johnny on The Tonight Show.
“Aww, but what’s a career?
When you put it next to knockwurst and beer
They could park a DC-10 on my rear
God knows, I’ve got the GAS!”
It’s a classic. Watch.
