Even the haters had to give it up for her. Performing at one of the Oscar’s of sporting events, Lady Gaga gave a show-stopping, pitch-perfect performance yesterday singing the National Athem at Superbowl 50. She brought the theatrics. Following in the footsteps of other divas like Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, and Whitney Houston – who she credited as her inspiration – she took on the challenge of belting The Star Spangled Banner for the world to hear. Social media immediately went nuts praising her. The top comment on World of Wonder‘s Facebook page, from Melanie Jasmine praised her (profanely) to the heavens,
“She was amazing!!!!!! Gaga! Gaga! Gaga! Gaga! Fuckin paws up. My bitch did that shit. No one can take that from her. She is a singer! Slay Slay Slay”
Some even thought she was the second-coming and others had fun comparing her look to Elizabeth Bank‘s Effie in The Hunger Games, but overall, she won over some football fans who may have dismissed her in the past as that girl who dresses crazy. No more. Next up? – her tribute to David Bowie at The Grammys, performing at –and possibly accepting an Oscar for Best Original Song, Til It Happens To You– at the Academy Awards. (Btw, she’ll be the only artist EVER to perform at the Superbowl, Grammys and Oscars in the same year!) Yes, it’s good to be Gaga.
Check out her performance below. (Oh, and spoiler, the Broncos beat the Panthers, 24-10!)
Congratulations to both teams and football fans. It was really an honor to sing for you on your big day. pic.twitter.com/NbL2m3ymhz
