According to the annual Ad Meter survey run by USA Today, the Alexa loses her voice ad was the highest-rated during last night’s Super Bowl. As The Wow Report teased beforehand, after Alexa loses her voice celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, Cardi B, Rebel Wilson and Sir Anthony Hopkins come to the rescue.
Companies spent up to $5 million for a 30-second ad last night, and it looks like Amazon’s money was well spent.
The NFL itself had success in the Super Bowl ad games, with a commercial in which New York Giants Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. celebrate a touchdown with a reenactment Dirty Dancing. The ad was the second highest-rated commercial according to USA Today.
I don’t know where they ranked in surveys but the Crocodile Dundee Australia tourism ad with Chris Hemsworth and the rap battle between Doritos vs Mountain Dew with Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman must have been marketing touchdowns as well. Sure is entertaining and worth repeat viewings.
But if you ask me, Tide won the night –and the pros at AdWeek agree. Its top spot was won by multiple commercials for the detergent that teased all the other Super Bowl ads, featuring Stranger Things star David Harbour.
Watch.
