Trump famously got in the way of the Queen while reviewing the troupes. A tourist similarly got in front of of a member of the Queen’s Guard at Windsor Castle after she climbs over the rope for a picture.
But unlike the polite Queen, the woman got shoved out of the way. She screams in shock as she was pushed from behind by the soldier. (If only the Queen had shoved Trump this way!)
The Queen’s Guard are charged with protecting official royal residences and are known for their distinctive uniforms of red tunics and bearskin hats. They have done so for three centuries.
The units, manned by fully-trained, serving soldiers, have more than 350 years of history and have defended monarchs since Charles II took the throne after the English Restoration in 1660.
Tourists obviously like to have their photographs taken with the soldiers who are wearing their ceremonial uniforms but if someone impedes their progress, the soldier will shout
“Make way for the Queen’s Guard!“
It’s abrupt, but more polite than the American version which would be,
“Outta my way, BITCH!“
The Ministry of Defense said of the incident,
“The Household Division is proud to guard Her Majesty and honoured that people come from around the world to watch our ceremonial spectacle. The ropes are there to protect both the public and our soldiers; please stay behind them.“
There are thought to be guidelines in place for guardsmen to deal with nuisances, which begins with stamping their feet and shouting.
Raising a rifle is considered a ‘final warning’, after which the guardsmen is allowed to detain the person in question.
It is not know when the incident took place. The woman was not hurt –except possibly her pride.
Watch.
