Latina trans artist Nomi Ruiz has shared Cocaino– a sultry, R&B track about sexual addiction. Ruiz returns to her hip hop soul roots with her first solo release in over a decade, from forthcoming album Jet Black. This time around, the singer/songwriter collaborated with producer Michael Moreno, a fellow native New Yorker raised on 90s NYC hip hop; reggae/jazz bassist Josh Werner, and drummer Gintas Janusonis…both producers known for their work with RZA, Wu Tang Clan and Ghostface Killah. Cocaino exhibits the album’s nostalgic range, with bluesy guitars, Gintas’ kick drum…and Ruiz’s metaphor-filled sex drawl that’ll have you droolin’! Cocaino is out now on Apple Music...Jet Black is slated for a 2020 release. (Nomi pic by Nicolas Quinteros Boudon)
Nomi Ruiz:
“I have to live in order to have something to write about. Each song (on Jet Black) was written during some truly dark times when I really needed an outlet and as always, it was the music that saved me.”
