What’s with these Italian ad agencies? (Ed note: Does a rhetorical question take a question mark?) When they’re not promoting Hitler as a big pink role model for teens, they’re drowning fetuses in cocktail glasses. In the name of good. This message in the poster you see here, with a fetus at the bottom of a wine spritzer, translates as “When Mommy drinks, Baby drinks,” and the campaign is in response to the Italian Institute of Health’s finding that 65% of women in Italy drink alcohol during pregnancy. The ads are set to appear on buses and billboards and in the ladies rooms of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs in the Veneto region of Italy, where the governor feels they run the risk of giving a “distorted image of women and in particular expecting mothers.” Critics have said the campaign is in bad taste. Well, of course – any cocktail would leave a bad taste in the mouth if there were a fetus drowning at the bottom of it. (via Telegraph; t/y Fenton)
